Plastic and Aesthetic Nursing (PAN Journal) is a quarterly journal that has been published continuously since 1980 by Lippincott Williams & Wilkins (LWW). The journal presents the most current information about plastic and aesthetic nursing practice. PAN features clinical articles covering a wide variety of surgical and nonsurgical reconstructive and aesthetic procedures. Articles about patient education techniques and research findings are also included, as well as articles discussing the important ethical issues and trends in this expanding clinical nursing specialty. The journal additionally provides relevant continuing education contact hours in every issue. Members of ISPAN receive the journal as a benefit of membership.

Authors from all health care professions are encouraged to submit manuscripts. PAN is interested in receiving manuscripts on a variety of topics of interest to plastic and aesthetic nursing community.

  • Age specific, cultural, psychosocial, and other nursing considerations for patients undergoing surgical and nonsurgical procedures
  • All types of cosmetic and reconstructive procedures (e.g., breast surgery, burns, cleft lip/palate reconstruction, craniofacial reconstruction, endoscopic surgery, facial fractures, flaps and grafts, hand surgery, hair transplantation, head and neck surgery, laser procedures, excision of redundant tissue, skin lesion removal, suction-assisted lipectomy, etc.)
  • All types of nonsurgical aesthetic procedures (e.g., dermapigmentation, injectables, etc.)
  • Anesthetic techniques for patients undergoing surgical and nonsurgical procedures
  • Evidence-based plastic and aesthetic practice
  • Legal and ethical issues relevant to plastic and aesthetic nurses
  • Management of noncompliant plastic and aesthetic patients
  • Products of interest to plastic and aesthetic nurses (e.g., implants, prosthetics, tissue expanders, etc.)

PAN journal staff are willing to work with novice writers and guide them through the writing process.

Manuscripts are easily submitted online using LWW's Editorial Manager system. This automated, web-based tool simplifies the manuscript submission process and enables users to electronically submit, review, and track manuscripts and artwork online. The journal invites contributors to use the Editorial Manager interface.
