International Society of Plastic and Aesthetic Nurses

Amanda Bailey, ACNP-BC, CWS, CPSN
Treasurer

Our members completed a survey about not only themselves but the practices where they work. Have you seen the results? Typical response rates for internal surveys hover around 30-40% but our turn out was just below the average at 25%. We asked our members about their education, where they work, relevance of the articles in the journal to their practice, and what educational offerings our members would like to see more of during future conventions. One of the most often asked questions to our society is compensation so we asked our members. All this information is right there for you to peruse.

For instance, over 50% of those answering the survey have at least a Bachelors of Nursing (BSN), Science or the Arts. The BSN statistic is actually consistent with the general nursing population for education as well as for those holding doctorate degrees. Currently, less than 1% of nurses in the United States hold a doctorate degree.

The number of years the International Society of Plastic and Aesthetic Nurses (ISPAN) members have been in practice is well spread across the groups; about 20% for all categories. There are equal numbers of members who have been Plastic Surgery Nurses for 5 years as there are for 25 years. Statistically this is relevant because the membership has both nurses new to plastics as well as those with longevity who can pass their knowledge and experience on to our new members.

Our members are from not only all over the United States including Hawaii but we have members hailing from Australia, Canada and Bermuda.

Take a moment to log onto the ISPAN website to read more and learn more about your fellow members in the "member's only section".
