International Society of Plastic and Aesthetic Nurses

Your ISPAN President and Board of Directors have been and continue to be busy planning for a bountiful year of continued growth and prosperity. During our Board of Directors meeting held in Chicago at the conference, time was spent discussing and brainstorming a strategic plan that will take ISPAN into the future and encourage and promote recognition as a leader in plastic surgical and aesthetic nursing.

The International Society of Plastic and Aesthetic Nurses had a fabulous meeting in Chicago but before we leave that meeting completely, I wanted to take a chance to address our members and attendees comments and concerns expressed in the survey for the meeting. It is customary to ask attendees to complete an overall survey on the meeting and the Board and Planning Committee have carefully reviewed comments expressed this year.

It is 2015 and I made my resolution list for the New Year. Thus, I am trying to clean my office. "Organize", I keep telling myself. You see, I have been told numerous times to label the files on my desk, and to make files on my computer. I am always reassured that this will help me clear the clutter. To my colleagues, I am known as the Post-it note queen, and I hear the chuckles when I use my Rolodex.

As a National Society, the ISPAN realizes that it is not always possible to travel to either our National Convention in the fall or the Aesthetic Symposium in the spring. However, two of the guiding principles of the ISPAN are to bring Plastic Surgical Nurses together to achieve the common goals of education as well as networking. Regional Chapters have long been the answer to this as it allows a group of nurses in an area to come together and share ideas and often times hold a small 1-day meeting for continuing education credit –something we are all looking for!
