This year's 39th annual national ISPAN meeting will be held in one of the best travel and temperate climate destinations in the country—beautiful San Diego. The conference theme, Plastic Surgery Nursing: A Passion and a Profession, offers a foretaste of what's to follow at North America's premier and most comprehensive plastic surgery nursing education event. This year's convention promises to bring new topics to the education curriculum; innovative nursing techniques; pertinent product information; and two unique workshop offerings to everyone across the plastic surgery nursing spectrum. Tissue expansion in pediatrics is an excellent reconstructive option for children that provides pleasing aesthetic results. Tissue expansion relies on the ability of skin to generate in response to tension. The advantages of using tissue expanders are good color match, normal sensation, minimal donor morbidity and no donor site scars. Common uses in pediatrics are congenital pigmented nevi, burns, scars and alopecia. More

The First Official Certification Aesthetic Nurse Specialist (CANS) examination will be offered in October. October 5 sessions will be in locations across the country and the October 11 session will be held in San Diego prior to the Annual Convention. More

ISPAN 2013 Awards Program

ISPAN offers three awards annually honoring individuals who have earned the respect and admiration of their peers as exemplified by the nominations process.
